Backup Electrical System:

 

What is Load Shedding?  When the country suffers from electrical blackouts due to power stations going offline, Eskom instigates a shutting down of supply of electricity to the country.  A timetable is then advertised which could result in 2 to 12 hours of no electricity during a 24 hour period.  Please download EskomSePush app on your mobile phone.  We are area Hermanus (3)

Eastbury Cottage is now powered by lithium batteries during load shedding, so there are no Eskom electricity outages.

You will be able to use all the electrical appliances in your unit, BUT, but we do ask you to please use the electric glass mini oven ONLY during morning or midday periods when the solar replenishes the batteries.  Use of the mini overn during the dark hours could result in the system tripping due to an overload and damaging the batteries.  Please use electrical appliances sparingly.

In the event of the electricity tripping, PLEASE make sure that all appliances are unplugged. NB A hairdryer that is switched on and left on a bed or chair could cause a fire should the electricity be restored at a later time.

We have fiber wifi to suit the business person requiring a good internet connection.

 

Heating:

 

Fireplaces in Garden Cottage, Courtyard Suite and The Rose Room.  The Loft is our beautiful 2 bedroom upstairs apartment and has wall heaters.
